Simona Sermoneta
Scientific     Communication

Who are we?

We are a small group of highly qualified translators and editors with backgrounds both in academia and in scientific writing. Some of us come from the medical and natural sciences, some from the social sciences, and some from the humanities. Each of our target languages - Hebrew, English and Italian - is the mother tongue of one or more of the members of our group.

Working as a team allows us not only to expand the range of disciplines covered and services offered, but also to tackle multidisciplinary texts, without compromising on the quality of the outcome.

On the contrary, the ability to consult each other, coupled with a practice whereby each text is submitted to a colleague for quality control before it is handed over to the client, guarantees a highly professional result.

Below you will find a short version of the curriculum of Simona Sermoneta, founding member the Scientific Communication collaborative group.

Training

I hold two academic degrees from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem:

  • A Master's degree in Public Health and Epidemiology (M.P.H)
  • A Bachelor's degree in English Linguistics (B.A).

In addition, I have audited a course in Hebrew Academic Editing at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and attended classes at the Beit Berl College Training Program for English/Hebrew Translators, Kfar Sava, Israel

Experience

I have many years of experience in academia - as researcher, research coordinator, and teaching assistant in the field of epidemiology - and as scientific translator and editor in numerous fields, including medicine, public health, biology, ecology, demography, social work, psychology, paleontology, history, political science, law, and economics.

For over twenty years I have been using a broad range of computer applications: word processors, bibliography managers, graphic editors, html editors, spreadsheets, presentation software and statistical packages.

Languages

Born in Rome, and having worked and studied in Israel and in English-speaking environments, I am completely fluent in English, Italian and Hebrew.
